New West Partnership Trade Agreement

Manitoba has joined the New West Partnership Trade Agreement (NWPTA) with British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan. NWPTA’s goal is to reduce barriers to trade, investment and labour movement making it easier to do business across these provinces. Registries, along with the Government of Canada, have delivered streamlined extra-provincial registration and reporting requirements for share business corporations, partnerships and cooperatives. NWPTA does not apply to non-profit corporations.

Streamlined online registration and reporting through the Multi-jurisdictional Registry Access Service (MRAS) became available on June 29, 2020. This is a new digital solution to ease registration activities across multiple provinces by sharing information.

Also, registry information from Corporations Canada, British Columbia, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Quebec can be accessed through Canada Business Registry. Through one search function, information on corporations registered in multiple provinces is accessible.
